Enhancing Independence through NDIS Plan Management

Enhancing Independence through NDIS Plan Management

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) places great emphasis on upholding the choice and control of the participants. Under the NDIS, participants can exercise choice and control over the various funded support and services. They have the freedom to decide how they wish to receive their support and from whom they prefer to receive them. This autonomy extends to the way they want to manage their NDIS funds as well. Plan Management is an NDIS-funded support which enhances the independence of the participants by helping them manage and monitor their NDIS funding. Having a plan manager to deal with the financial aspect of the NDIS will help the participants to focus more on their independent living goals without compromising on their choice and control.

Through NDIS plan management, participants can make the most out of their NDIS funding. Accessing the services of a plan manager will take away the stress of handling service provider payments, ensure optimal use of the NDIS funding and facilitate a greater sense of independence in the lives of NDIS participants. Including plan management in a participant’s NDIS plan will expand their choice of service providers. It will allow them to access the services of both registered and unregistered service providers. Plan managers also help people with disabilities to have greater budget oversight by tracking their expenditures and maintaining accurate financial records.
