NDIS Plan Reassessment: What to Expect

NDIS Plan Reassessment: What to Expect

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an important disability support system designed to assist Australians living with disabilities, providing access to necessary support and services. NDIS plans are dynamic, and tailored to individual needs, but periodic reassessments ensure that they stay relevant and aligned with evolving goals and requirements of the participant. Understanding the reassessment process and how NDIS Plan Management can support you through it is pivotal for a smoother transition and optimal
outcomes.

Each NDIS plan comes with a scheduled ‘reassessment date.’ Typically, a participant’s initial NDIS plan reassessment occurs approximately 12 months after the commencement of their plan. However, the participant can initiate a reassessment if they are not satisfied with their NDIS plan at any point in time. The NDIS will get in touch with you to initiate the reassessment process through a participant check-in. The NDIS will check in with the participant and see how they are going with their current NDIS plan, and if their circumstances have changed in the last year. This will help NDIS prepare the participant for the plan reassessment meeting. For certain participants, a complete plan reassessment may not be required, for example, they may only wish to add supports like Plan Management in their NDIS plan which will help them manage their NDIS funding. If the participant wishes to undergo a full plan reassessment, NDIS will collaborate with them to understand the information required such as what went well and what didn’t function as expected. After a reassessment date is booked during the initial check-in, participants have the flexibility to choose a face-to-face, phone, or video call format for their reassessment meeting based on their preferences. Additionally, they can invite supports like family members, friends, or Support Coordinators to join their meeting.

Navigating the plan reassessment process can be overwhelming, but NDIS Plan Management can significantly alleviate the stress and complexity associated with the process. Having plan management in their NDIS plan allows the participants to focus on the bigger
goals and reassessment processes. Their plan manager will ensure that the financial aspects of the plan are taken care of despite the changes happening to the plan. Contact Plan Guard Plan Managers to experience the convenience of NDIS Plan Management.
