Promoting Choice and Control through NDIS Plan Management.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for a range of support and services that addresses the needs of people with disabilities. One of the most important aspects of the NDIS is to empower people with disabilities to have the freedom to make informed decisions and have authority in pursuing their goals, as well as in the planning and implementation of their NDIS plan. This means participants have choice and control over who provides their support and services, how their NDIS funds are spent, and how those supports and services are provided. Plan Management is an NDIS-funded support that helps the participants to effectively exercise their choice and control as well as expand their choice of available service providers.

Through NDIS Plan Management, participants can access the services of experienced plan managers. A plan manager can help the participants to:

 Manage and monitor their NDIS funds.
 Take care of their NDIS claims and pay providers for services delivered.
 Get regular and accurate financial reports.
 Avoid potential overspending of NDIS funds.
 Access services of both registered and unregistered service providers.

Plan Management services are a participant’s right and they can ask for it during their planning meeting or through plan reassessment. Having plan management in their NDIS plan helps the participants to exercise greater choice and control over their NDIS funding and choice of providers.
